Motor insurance gives protection to the vehicle owner. It will give protection against the damages of his/her vehicle and also pays for any Third Party Liability as per law. Third Party Insurance is a statutory requirement. The vehicle owner is legally liable for any damage or injury to a third party or property, arising out of the use of the vehicle in a public place. As per terms of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, driving a motor vehicle in a public place without insurance policy is a punishable offence.
