Yamaha launches Cygnus Ray-ZR in its lineup of scooters
After the success of Fascino and Alpha, Yamaha has launched its new scooter Cygnus Ray-ZR with a lot more manly attitude that captivates the urban heart. When it was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016, the company had announced it as a young Indian man's scooter specifically as the earlier model of Ray that was launched for women did not fare well in the market and had to be discontinued. Now this model of Ray ZR has cosmetic tweaks to charm the male crowd with its sporty yet aggressive looks and cool body graphics. The sharp lines and accentuated side panels keeps it at the forefront giving the attention it deserves in a crowd. It is powered by a 113 cc Bluecore engine that has been designed to improve the combustion efficiency. It competes well in the Indian market with its power to weight ratio at a weight of 103kg which is lower than most of its rivals. Thanks to the fibre used on its body panels. The scooter also comes with a decent 21 litre storage capacity, alloy wheels and tubeless tyres. The Ray- ZR boasts of itself to be the first Indian scooter that offers an optional disc brake variant. Yamaha foresees a 10% market share in the upcoming year with the soaring 30% contribution to sales in the scooter segment, says Roy Kurian, Yamaha Motor India Sales VP-Sales & Marketing. The drum brake variant of Cygnus Ray ZR is approximately priced at Rs 52,000 while the disk brake variant is around Rs 54,500.

Royal Enfield motorcycles powered by BS-IV engines are now available in India. The entire lineup is said to have received the engine upgrades with AHO (Automatic Headlamp On) feature (both being stringent norms), even though no official statement has been released by the company yet. According to reports from financial express, Electra 350 was spotted already on sale at one of the company dealerships with updated features as the BS-IV engine and AHO. Other models too are believed to go on sale with the same upgrades in another week, as April 1st, 2017 is the deadline for these norms to be implemented on all motor vehicles in India. The prices have been hiked for the new range of BS-IV motorcycles from Royal Enfield.

Yamaha launched its latest offering in the FZ series named FZ 25 as a gentle step towards the booming 250cc bike segment. Comfortably placed between the YZF R15 version 2.0 and YZF R3, this motorcycle marks Yamaha’s entry into the performance bike segment which is being dominated by giants like Royal Enfield, KTM and Bajaj Auto. The bike was initially named as FZ 250, but later the company decided to dump the 0 and name it FZ 25.
