Honda WR-V ready to hit Indian roads on March 16th, 2017

img

Honda WR-V (Winsome Runabout Vehicle), the sub compact crossover was unveiled at the 2016 Sao Paulo Motor Show in Brazil. Now, Honda is about to launch the same here in the country on March 16th, 2017. As WR-V rolls here, India will earn the name for being the first country to produce and launch it in the world. Previously named as the Jazz Twist, this crossover is based on the company’s best seller Honda Jazz but is slightly longer and taller than the latter.

To begin with the design, the New Honda WR-V borrows the platform from Jazz and City and hence could look familiar to the enthusiasts. However, being a crossover has given it a better ground clearance as a result of its taller frame. The silhouette displays a honeycomb mesh grille upfront bounded by wraparound headlamps with LED DRLs, a prominent muscular bonnet, rugged bumper with circular fog lamps, diamond cut alloy wheels and aggressive bold lines running towards both sides are features that fake the appearance of an SUV. LED tail lamps, rear windshield wiper, Outside Rear View Mirrors (ORVM) with turn indicators, sunroof (only on top variant) and faux silver skid plates at the front and rear and roof rails are few other notable features on the exterior.

On the inside, the WR-V looks spacious with more room to breathe. The dashboard too is drawn from the Jazz though blackened with silver traces on the centre console and door panels to give a sportier look. The black and cream interiors house a 3-spoke multifunctional steering wheel, sleeker gear knob, front centre armrest, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system by Digipad (seen on the New Honda City 2017), plush fabric seats and a sporty instrument cluster. Safety features are expected to include few premium features as keyless entry, start/stop button for engine, cruise control etc. along with dual airbags and other basics.

Under the hood, the WR-V is powered by the same engine that powers the Jazz. The 1.2L VTEC petrol engine coupled to 5-speed manual transmission produces 90bhp and 110Nm of torque while 1.5L i-DTEC diesel engine coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission produces 100hp and 200Nm of torque.

Bookings are open now at all authorized dealerships across the country for a token amount of Rs.21,000.
