As India readies itself to receive the luxury SUV-Jeep Compass, here is a quick insight into the few specifications which makes it distinct from its rivals. The American luxury carmaker is all set to launch this Indian made SUV in August and has let out the video teaser of the same. Even though there isn’t anything new to be revealed in the video, there is a reminder fact that this luxury vehicle comes at a price which makes it the most affordable SUV in the Jeep India portfolio. Thanks to the company facility at Ranjangaon which made this possible. The prices are expected to range between Rs.20 lakh to Rs.25 lakh and will compete against Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson, Toyota Fortuner and SsangYong Rexton upon launch.
Jeep Compass fondly called as the Baby Grand Cherokee will impress the Indian audience with the same exteriors as the global model. However, it will replace the existing model in all the right hand drive markets as the company will be exporting this new baby SUV from India. The New Compass is based on the small 4x4 wide architecture but looks quite similar to the Grand Cherokee in design. The prominent seven slat grille, horizontal projector headlamps with LED DRLs upfront, LED tail lamps and a muscular bumper at its rear, square wheel arches over the 18-inch alloy wheels and plastic cladding that runs under the body all add to the robustness of this SUV.
The Baby Grand Cherokee exhibits extravagance in usage of equipments inside the cabin. Panoramic sunroof, 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plush leather seats, Beats audio system and many more are said to adorn the interiors of this sports utility vehicle.
Compass will most likely be offered in both petrol and diesel trims. In that case, power will be derived from 1.4L turbocharged petrol and 2L turbocharged diesel engine earned from Fiat’s Multijet Series. These engines will be coupled to six-speed manual as well as dual clutch automatic transmission. There is also news that the all-wheel drive variants will be mated to nine speed automatic transmission.
