As per dealer reports, Toyota Kirloskar India is about to launch the TRD Sportivo variant of the Fortuner in the Indian market. However, we will have to wait until they declare the official launch date after which deliveries of the SUV will begin. The new Fortuner expected to be priced at around Rs.30 lakh, appears trimmed but not shaved and looks exactly like a saber tooth. The company has made the Fortuner switch its expression by giving sharper details like an extended chin, black grille and headlamps.
The new all black grille upfront extends sideways to the headlamps at both ends and downwards until the bumper. Even the fog lamps are housed inside the black enclosures to fall in sync with the new design. An optional sports body kit is available that includes renewed bumper, side skirts and a protruding chin. Black and Red sporty decals have been provided on the sides, black and silver alloy wheels, and a very prominent TRD Sportivo badge are counted among the few revisions. Interiors get a black themed cabin with new black seats and floor mats, while the rest of the equipment inside looks more or less the same as its predecessor.
No mechanical changes are evident on the upcoming Fortuner TRD Sportivo. The 2.8L four cylinder diesel engine produces 175bhp and 450Nm of peak torque while a 2.7L petrol engine may also be available. Both engines will come mated to 6-speed manual or automatic transmissions while sources say that there might also be chances of an AWD (All Wheel Drive) variant for sale.
