Hyundai let out a teaser of their all new electric SUV, Kona that is about to make its global debut at the Geneva Motor Show. The compact SUV was unveiled last year and the fully electric version will be launched in the second half of 2018 in US. However, the details and specifications of Kona will be officially made available at the end of this month.
As per reports, Hyundai Kona is expected to arrive in two powertrain versions with a range of 470kms to 500kms on a single charge, which is quite a challenging factor for other electric cars in the market. Hyundai is planning to bring an electric car to India by 2019 and also revealed that they will be launching two cars every year by 2020, one of which could be an electric model.
Kona electric will carry same silhouette of the regular model but with few extra features to differentiate it as well. LG Chemicals has reportedly worked with Hyundai for developing an electric powertrain for Kona. The electric battery could be in resemblance to the one seen on Chevrolet Bolt. If that’s the case, then Kona will be featuring two battery options of 40kWh and 64kWh. The SUV is expected to be loaded with abundant convenience and connectivity features along with active and passive driving assistance.
Price of Kona Electric is expected to be between Rs.25 lakh to Rs.30 lakh.
